Q. How do you cleanly transition a 13 year old from Bully Proof into Combatives. There appears to be a gap in the program that targets young teens. Moving from BP into WE or Combatives and restarting at white belt when the student could have 8 years of training under their belt is a difficult subject to discuss with the student, As an adult I know that it is not about the belt but as a child that can be a tough pill to swallow after years of hard work moving up the ladder. I want to keep my child motivated and involved in the art.

A. We accommodate this on a case-by-case basis. The student can take the GC test as soon as they're of age and, if they've been sparring, we've granted exceptions for early award of a blue once they meet that age requirement.

Q. Are there any plans on introducing the bully proof scenarios (verbal interactions) spoken about in this video to the Gracie University online curriculum.

Q. I’m currently doing Gracie Games with my kids at home. When watching this video I was very interested in what you said about dealing with verbal bullying. For example “Take this rock and throw it at that window or else you’re not my friend anymore.” or “If you’re friends with xx you’re not my friend anymore.” or “You can’t play with us.” Do you teach how to handle those types of situations in any of your online courses?
Duden (1/8/2021 5:58 AM)
A. Yes, but there's nothing here that would not be obvious to you as an adult and a parent. These examples all pertain to dealing with peer pressure to do something wrong.

Q. I started Jiu-Jitsu back in like 2005 maybe. Jordan was a Blue Belt way back then. He was always cool, like everyone there - a great teacher with specific feedback. I used to go to the one on Carson blvd, then followed the move to Artesia blvd. But it was getting too pricy for me, sadly.. And the other - more affordable Jiu-Jitsu schools, were not near the level of passion when it came to learning. I am so grateful for this internet seminar. I can't wait to get my son and daughter dialed in for the long-haul with the help, input and advise of this topic. I too am a teacher, and I totally agree - parents coaching on the side or afterwards on the way home is filled with the correct intentions, but can suck the joy, inspiration and desire out of the child.

Q. I heard the mention of games for the last 15 mins of the kids class. What are some games you utilize that I can use for my kids classes?
sche27 (3/19/2019 1:29 PM)
A. There are so many. Do a YouTube search!

Q. How do you handle when a child inside the class is taking what the techniques they learn and bullying other kids? How do you correct this?
Gatesmachine0811 (12/9/2018 11:46 PM)
A. That can be a challenge. They either change their ways or they're out.
