Master Cycle Intro Class Lesson Price: free
In this short intro, Ryron and Rener discuss everything you need to know, do, and have in order to get the most out of the Master Cycle. Watch this first, and then get ready for Lesson 1 - Superhooks!

Lesson 1: Super Hooks (Ch1.1: Mount Controls) Lesson Price: free
The white belt mount control tactics minimized space. Super Hooks will totally eliminate space and make you a master of the mount.

Lesson 2: High Mount (Ch1.1: Mount Controls) Lesson Price: $18.00
If the opponent tries to get out with the Elbow Escape, you will need this sequence of high mount strategies to retain control.

Lesson 3: Surprise Rolls (Ch1.2: Mount Escapes) Lesson Price: $18.00
In this lesson, you will learn three highly effective Trap and Roll transitions that you can use to surprise your opponent after they neutralize your initial Elbow Escape attempt.

Lesson 4: Surprise Elbows (Ch1.2: Mount Escapes) Lesson Price: $18.00
Now, you will learn the best transitions to the Elbow Escape when your opponent neutralizes the Trap and Roll.

Lesson 5: Americana Armlock (Ch1.3: Mount Submission Counters) Lesson Price: $18.00
Although the most effective Americana Armlock counter is to avoid letting your arm get pinned to the ground, it is very likely that, one day, a stronger opponent will catch you by surprise. When this happens, this series of defensive strategies will ensure your safety.

Lesson 6: Straight Armlock (Ch1.3: Mount Submission Counters) Lesson Price: $18.00
If you accidentally extend one or both arms during a panicked escape attempt and your opponent spins for the armlock, you can use these Straight Armlock counters as a last line of defense.

Lesson 7: Twisting Arm Control (Ch1.3: Mount Submission Counters) Lesson Price: $18.00
In this lesson, we will discuss three counters to the Twisting Arm Control. By knowing the counters, you will not only become a much harder target for your opponent, but your effectiveness in catching the Twisting Arm Control will increase dramatically with your improved understanding of the potential escapes.

Lesson 8: Neck-hug Sequence (Ch1.4: Mount Submissions) Lesson Price: $18.00
The power of the Neck-hug Sequence comes from the presentation of multiple simultaneous threats. If they counter one technique, then they open the door for another. Either you win, or they lose!

Lesson 9: Cross Choke Sequence (Ch1.4: Mount Submissions) Lesson Price: $18.00
First, we will discuss the most effective cross choke variations. Then, we will teach you how to use them in combination and, most importantly, how to avoid losing the position once you latch on to their neck.

Chapter 2: Side Mount Full Chapter Price: $84.00

Chapter 2 of the Blue Belt Stripe 1 Course features 7 lessons which are broken down into four sections: Side Mount Controls, Side Mount Escapes, Side Mount Submissions, and Side Mount Submission Counters. It is essential that you complete the lessons in the prescribed sequence or else you will have difficulty executing the Rapid Mastery Drills and the Focus Sparring Exercises featured at the end of each lesson. Once you complete all seven lessons, it is highly recommended that you start over and cycle through them at least two more times before moving on to the next chapter. Lesson 10: Control Flow (Ch2.1: Side Mount Controls) Lesson Price: $18.00
The standard Side Mount control strategies learned in the Gracie Combatives course are fully reliable in situations when you’re trying to control a much stronger street fight opponent. Against an opponent who is more knowledgeable and technical in their escape attempts, you will need a more dynamic strategy to retain control, and that is where the Control Flow comes into play.

Lesson 11: Knee on Stomach (Ch2.1: Side Mount Controls) Lesson Price: $18.00
Using the mount or side mount to control an opponent in a crowded area can be dangerous since you don’t know who might kick you in the back of the head. The Knee on Stomach position is a great alternative since it enables you to immobilize your opponent with the option to disengage on a moment’s notice. In this lesson you will learn the essential Knee on Stomach control elements as well as the transitional strategies you can use to improve your position.

Lesson 12: Bump and Shoot (Ch2.2: Side Mount Escapes) Lesson Price: $18.00
Usually, a street fight opponent will create space for side mount escapes in their attempts to punch you. A more skilled opponent is primarily concerned with controlling the position, so it is less likely that they will allow space for your escape. In this situation, use the Bump and Shoot variation of the Shrimp Escape will free you.

Lesson 13: High-low Guard (Ch2.2: Side Mount Escapes) Lesson Price: $18.00
The simplest and most reliable side mount escape is the Shrimp Escape. But, sometimes a stronger opponent will control your hips so tightly that even the Bump and Shoot technique will not work. When this happens, use the High-low guard escape since it utilizes a completely different escape angle.

Lesson 14: Americana Armlock (Ch2.3: Side Mount Submissions) Lesson Price: $18.00
The primary objective from the side mount is to maintain control of your opponent, exhaust their energy, and then transition to the mount position where you can win the fight with ease. When your opponent’s frantic escape at-tempts create a submission opportunity for you, it would be rude not to take the gift. The simple, yet highly-effective, Americana Armlock was the first mount submission you learned in the Gracie Combatives course, and, for the same reasons, it is the first side mount submission you will learn in the Master Cycle.

Lesson 15: Elbow Cup Armbar (Ch2.3: Side Mount Submissions) Lesson Price: $18.00
If there is one technique that enabled Ryron to keep his brotherly edge over Rener and Ralek during their teenage years, it was the Elbow Cup Armbar. Once he establishes the underhook from the side mount, Ryron uses the Elbow Cup Armbar in combination with the Americana Armlock to seal the deal on opponents of all sizes and skill levels. The secret to the success of this technique is in the landing position of your hips.

Lesson 16: Safe Hands (Ch2.4: Side Mount Submission Counters) Lesson Price: $18.00
The best submission counter strategy is to assume a safe defensive position that blunts the opponent’s attacks. In this lesson, we teach you how to position your hands in a way that nullifies all the previously learned side mount submissions.

Chapter 3: Guard Full Chapter Price: $156.00

Chapter 3 of the Blue Belt Stripe 1 Course features 13 lessons which are broken down into six sections: Guard Controls, Guard Passes, Guard Submission Counters, Guard Submissions, Guard Sweeps and Sport Guards. It is essential that you complete the lessons in the prescribed sequence or else you will have difficulty executing the Rapid Mastery Drills and the Focus Sparring Exercises featured at the end of each lesson. Once you complete all thirteen lessons, it is highly recommended that you start over and cycle through them at least two more times before moving on to the next chapter. To get total access to this chapter and all other Gracie University courses, including bonus Gracie Breakdowns and Narrated Sparring Videos, click here to start your 5-day Free Trial!

Lesson 17: Posture Prevention (Ch3.1: Guard Controls) Lesson Price: $18.00
Anytime a skilled opponent lands in your guard, they will want to establish posture. In a sportive setting solid posture prevents many submissions and creates guard pass opportunities, and in a street setting, posture creates powerful punch opportunities. In this lesson we will discuss the most reliable ways to break your opponents posture as well as some emergency punch block strategies that will take your guard survival skills to the next level.

Lesson 18: Pass Prevention (Ch3.1: Guard Controls) Lesson Price: $18.00
The Double Underhook Guard Pass is the first closed guard pass you learned and therefore the first guard pass you must learn how to neutralize. In this lesson we discuss how to prevent the opponent from stacking you up while setting up a Triangle Choke. Then, we teach you how to recompose the guard if the primary guard control strategies are unsuccessful.

Lesson 19: Knee Split Pass (Ch3.2: Guard Passes) Lesson Price: $18.00
In a street fight, passing the guard is a relatively simple process since you can use strikes to open the guard and then go straight to the Double Underhook Pass covered in Lesson 36 of the Gracie Combatives course. If however, you are in a grappling match against a skilled opponent, or you are in a street fight but you do not want to strike your opponent, you can use the Knee Split Pass to break the guard and pass. First you will learn how to use the Knee Split to set up the Double Underhook Pass, and then, you will learn four variations you can use against a skilled opponent.

Lesson 20: Standing Pass (Ch3.2: Guard Passes) Lesson Price: $18.00
If you have trouble passing your opponent’s guard from a kneeling position, you can use these standing guard passes to get the job done. By standing up in your opponent’s guard, you put more gravitational stress on their ankles making it harder for them to keep the guard closed, and since you are further away from them, submissions are more difficult to achieve against you. The one thing you must watch out for during the standing passes, however, is your balance. In this lesson you will learn two reliable standing guard breaks, and then you will learn how to deal with the Double Ankle Sweep if your opponent goes for it.

Lesson 21: Triangle Choke (Ch3.3: Guard Submission Counters) Lesson Price: $18.00
The best Triangle Counter is to avoid getting caught. In this lesson, we will teach you how to use your knowledge of the Stage 1.5 Triangle Choke strategy to prevent it before it happens. First, we will discuss the Safe Hands strategy that will nullify the Triangle while creating two guard pass opportunities, then we will discuss what to do if the Safe Hands fails and you get caught in the Triangle Setup position.

Lesson 22: Straight Armlock (Ch3.3: Guard Submission Counters) Lesson Price: $18.00
The more effective you become at applying the Straight Armlock from the guard, the less likely you are to ever get caught in it. In this lesson you will learn two reliable emergency escapes you can use to nullify the straight armlock whenever your safe hand positioning and body posture fail to keep you safe. The first variation is useful against stronger opponents and the second variation will help you when you get caught by someone with a flexible spine.

Lesson 23: Kimura (Ch3.3: Guard Submission Counters) Lesson Price: $18.00
Only if you learn the counters to a submission, can you become a master at its application. In this lesson you will learn the early, late and emergency escapes to the Kimura Armlock from the guard, which will serve you from a defensive as well as an offensive point of view.

Lesson 24: Wrist Control Sequence (Ch3.4: Guard Submissions) Lesson Price: $18.00
The guard submissions you learned in the Gracie Combatives course are designed to take advantage of the most likely behaviors that you are likely to experience against an unskilled larger opponent. If you have a skilled opponent in your guard, however, you are much less likely to have the submission opportunity created for you, which means you will need to create it yourself. In this lesson, we will discuss how to create and control the Straight Armlock from the guard against a skilled opponent as well as how to sneakily jump to the Triangle when your opponent tries to defend the initial Straight Armlock attempt.

Lesson 25: Triple Threat (Ch3.4: Guard Submissions) Lesson Price: $18.00
From the mount or from the guard, the primary offensive benefit of the gi is that it creates an array of cross choke opportunities for you. In this lesson, we will teach you a how the basic cross chokes should be applied from the guard, then we will teach you how they can be used in combination with the Straight Armlock and the Triangle to create an incredibly dynamic attack sequence called the Triple Threat that will enable you to corner and submit even the most skilled opponent’s, once it’s mastered.

Lesson 26: Scissor Sweep (Ch3.5: Guard Sweeps) Lesson Price: $18.00
The sweeps you learned in the Gracie Combatives course were specifically designed to take advantage of the opponent’s off balance attack behavior to achieve the reversal. In this lesson, you will learn how to initiate a very reliable sweep against an opponent who is not creating the opportunity for you. First you will learn the standard Scissor Sweep, and then we will discuss what to do if they try to reestablish their base during the sweep.

Lesson 27: Cross Sweep (Ch3.5: Guard Sweeps) Lesson Price: $18.00
In the Gracie Combatives course you learned the Hook Sweep from Stage 5. Sometimes, however, your opponent is standing over you, but is positioned in a way that prevents the Hook Sweep from being possible, and when this happens, the Cross Sweep is the best option. In this lesson we will teach you how to use the Cross Sweep as a primary option, then we will teach you how to use it in combination with the Hook Sweep to create a more dynamic base threat from the open guard.

Lesson 28: Butterfly Guard (Ch3.6: Sport Guards) Lesson Price: $18.00
Although limited in street applicability, the Butterfly Guard is highly-effective in the sportive setting. If you find yourself underneath a larger opponent who is stubbornly based on their knees, you can use this series of Butterfly Guard tactics to find and exploit your opponent’s angles of weakness. First, we will teach you the basic Butterfly control tactics and sweeps, and then we will show you how to use them in combination with a back mount transition for optimum effectiveness.

Lesson 29: Spider Guard (Ch3.6: Sport Guards) Lesson Price: $18.00
The Spider Guard is one of the original sport guards and still highly utilized in today’s jiu-jitsu tournaments. Although it is 100% sport, and relies entirely on the use of the gi, it effectively employs the powerful principles of weight control and balance manipulation. By perfecting your understanding of what makes the Spider Guard work, not only will you sharpen your understanding of balance, but your ability to “untangle the web” and pass the Spider Guard will be greatly enhanced.

Chapter 4: Half Guard Full Chapter Price: $72.00

Chapter 4 of the Blue Belt Stripe 1 Course features 6 lessons which are broken down into two sections: Half Guard Bottom and Half Guard Top. It is essential that you complete the lessons in the prescribed sequence or else you will have difficulty executing the Rapid Mastery Drills and the Focus Sparring Exercises featured at the end of each lesson. Once you complete all six lessons, it is highly recommended that you start over and cycle through them at least two more times before moving on to the next chapter. To get total access to this chapter and all other Gracie University courses, including bonus Gracie Breakdowns and Narrated Sparring Videos, click here to start your 5-day Free Trial!

Lesson 30: Guard Recovery (Ch4.1: Half Guard Bottom) Lesson Price: $18.00
Although you will learn many sweeps and even some submission strategies from the bottom of the half guard, against a larger street opponent, the most important skill is that of being able to recompose the guard. In the Gracie Combatives course you learned how to accomplish this against an untrained opponent, now we will discuss how to do it against a knowledgeable opponent who is determined to retain control over you.

Lesson 31: Take the Back (Ch4.1: Half Guard Bottom) Lesson Price: $18.00
One of the primary benefits of utilizing the half guard is the ease with which you can transition to your opponent’s back. In this lesson we will discuss the important role that underhooks and effective body angle play in making the back mount possible, and then we will teach you the three most effective back mount transition strategies.

Lesson 32: Elevator Sweep (Ch4.1: Half Guard Bottom) Lesson Price: $18.00
You’ve learned the Elevator Sweep from the guard, now you’re ready to learn its half guard equivalent. Anytime your opponent drapes their body over yours and lowers their hips to the ground to set up a basic half guard pass, they are creating the perfect opportunity for you to insert the hook and take advantage of their weak balance. If your opponent is too large and you are unable to sweep them, you can use the space created to recompose the guard.

Lesson 33: Tripod Pass (Ch4.2: Half Guard Top) Lesson Price: $18.00
If you find yourself in your opponent’s half guard, your first objective should be to neutralize sweeps and prevent them from recomposing the guard. Once that is taken care of, you need to pass the half guard and get the side mount so you can progress towards winning the fight. The Tripod Pass from the half guard is one of the simplest and most reliable options that will work on everyone from beginners to black belts.

Lesson 34: Sitting Pass (Ch4.2: Half Guard Top) Lesson Price: $18.00
If your opponent is able to establish the underhook from the bottom of the half guard, it can be dangerous for you to stay on your knees since it may allow for sweeps or a back mount transition. For these reasons, we recommend you drop your hips and transition to the Sitting Half Guard Passes covered in this lesson.

Lesson 35: Three-Quarter Guard Pass (Ch4.2: Half Guard Top) Lesson Price: $18.00
If your opponent is able to escape their knee from the bottom of the half guard, they end up in what we call the three-quarter guard. From there, they will fight to free their foot and put you in the guard while you will use these strategies to return to the half guard, or even better, pass directly to the side mount.

Chapter 5: Back Mount Full Chapter Price: $72.00

Chapter 5 of the Blue Belt Stripe 1 Course features 6 lessons.

Lesson 36: Crossover Control (Ch5.1: Back Mount Controls) Lesson Price: $18.00
The back mount is arguably the best place to be in a fight. You have a variety of submission opportunities and your opponent can do little, if anything, to harm you. The most important thing, however, is that you develop the skills to retain back mount control when you have an opponent who is determined to escape. In the Gracie Combatives course you learned the remount technique for when the opponent began to slip away; but now it’s time to learn the Crossover Control strategies that will enable you to stay tight and keep the back even after a hook is removed.

Lesson 37: Triple Threat (Ch5.1: Back Mount Controls) Lesson Price: $18.00
Getting the back is one thing; closing the deal is another. In a street fight, the only submission you really need is the Rear Naked Choke. If, however, you find yourself on the back of a skilled opponent who is expecting the RNC, you will need to create more submission threats for a chance at victory. Before we teach you the three submissions that can be used in combination to defeat any opponent, we want you to understand the critical control elements that will enable you to establish and maintain the position from which the three submissions will be applied. Never forget, position before submission.

Lesson 38: Choke Sequence (Ch5.2: Back Mount Submissions) Lesson Price: $18.00
From the back mount, the most important thing, aside from maintaining control, is to become very proficient at attacking your opponent’s neck. In this lesson we will explore several additional details surrounding the Rear Naked Choke as well as the Lapel Chokes that you can use to attack then neck when your opponent is wearing something with a heavy lapel. Once perfected, these chokes will enable you to create very dynamic sequences of attack from the back mount.

Lesson 39: Double Threat (Ch5.2: Back Mount Submissions ) Lesson Price: $18.00
Now that you are proficient at attacking your opponent’s neck, you are ready to begin creating combinations of attack. The most fundamental and reliable combination is the Double Attack that includes attacking the neck and the arm simultaneously. By starting with a legitimate neck attack, your opponent has no choice but to defend, and when they do, they will be creating the perfect armlock opportunity. We will start with the basic Straight Armlock from the back mount.

Lesson 40: Early Escape (Ch5.3: Back Mount Submission Counters) Lesson Price: $18.00
This is the original back mount defensive strategy of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Not only will it save your neck when you’re caught in a tight spot, but it will teach you the principles that govern virtually all other back mount escape strategies you will ever learn. Don’t move on until the Early Escapes are locked in and understood 100%.

Lesson 41: Frame Escape (Ch5.3: Back Mount Submission Counters) Lesson Price: $18.00
The Early Escape is the foundational back mount escape strategy. If your opponent is able to establish the over-under control from the back, however, they might be able to prevent your immediate escape. When this happens, stay calm and dedicate all your efforts to preventing the choking hand from shooting in. With the choking hand under control, you will be able to use the highly effective Frame Escape to slip your head out and escape the back mount.

Chapter 6: Leg Locks Full Chapter Price: $96.00

Chapter 6 of the Blue Belt Stripe 1 Course features 8 lessons. It is essential that you complete the lessons in the prescribed sequence or else you will have difficulty executing the Rapid Mastery Drills and the Focus Sparring Exercises featured at the end of each lesson. Once you complete all eight lessons, it is highly recommended that you start over and cycle through them at least two more times before moving on to the next chapter. To get total access to this chapter and all other Gracie University courses, including bonus Gracie Breakdowns and Narrated Sparring Videos, click here to start your 5-day Free Trial!

Lesson 42: Open Guard Setup (Ch6.1: Straight Foot Locks) Lesson Price: $18.00
When facing an opponent who is savvy with their legs, it can be very challenging to pass the guard. Foot locks are a great way to put your opponent on the defensive, changing their focus from pass-prevention to submission survival. If they don’t respect the foot lock, you take it, if they do respect it, you pass their guard.

Lesson 43: Primary Counter (Ch6.1: Straight Foot Locks) Lesson Price: $18.00
When you’re on the bottom of the open guard, your foot is in danger. If you focus too much on defending the foot lock, then your guard will get passed. If you focus too much on preventing the pass, your foot will get caught. In this lesson we will discuss the three most important Straight Foot Lock counters so that you can stay safe while working your open guard.

Lesson 44: Standard Toe Hold (Ch6.2: Toe Hold Foot Locks) Lesson Price: $18.00
When you go for the Straight Foot Lock on someone who doesn’t know how to defend properly, it is very common for him or her to try to roll wildly to escape. To counter this, the most important thing is that you pinch your legs together to prevent your opponent’s leg from slipping out. If during the commotion, your opponent turns outwards, the Straight Foot Lock still applies. If, however, he turns his knee inwards, he’s creating the perfect opportunity for you to catch the Toe Hold Foot Lock. In this lesson we discuss the standard finish for the Toe Hold Foot Lock as well as how to close the deal while your opponent is rolling wildly.

Lesson 45: Primary Counter (Ch6.2: Toe Hold Foot Locks) Lesson Price: $18.00
The Toe Hold Foot Lock is responsible for more leg/foot injuries than any other leg lock. The most important principle for surviving Toe Holds is discussed in great detail in this lesson, and it will serve you immensely now and in the future when we discuss more elaborate Toe Hold setup techniques and survival strategies.

Lesson 46: Reverse Drop (Ch6.3: Knee Locks) Lesson Price: $18.00
The knee lock is one of the most feared submissions in the books. If fully applied, the knee lock can cause irreparable damage the knee. To make matters worse, the pain usually doesn’t kick in until after the ligaments are torn, unlike other submissions that hurt before the break. The Reverse Drop is one of the most readily available variations of the knee lock and is very simple to execute. All the fundamental knee lock principles are discussed in this lesson, so that, in the future, you will be able to learn advanced setups and variations with ease.

Lesson 47: Primary Counter (Ch6.3: Knee Locks) Lesson Price: $18.00
The most reliable counter to the knee lock, as with any submission, is to avoid getting caught altogether. But, since the mind can easily get distracted in a position as dynamic as the bottom of the open guard, it is possible that someone catches you in the Reverse Drop Knee Lock without you having a chance to respond until your leg is fully controlled by your opponent. In this lesson, you will learn the simplest and most reliable knee lock counter in the books, and then we’ll teach you a few tricks you can use to keep sneaky opponents from wrapping your legs while inside your open guard.

Lesson 48: Standard Heel Hook (Ch6.4: Heel Hooks) Lesson Price: $18.00
Like the knee lock, the heel hook is an extremely dangerous submission that can cause irreparable damage when applied aggressively or carelessly. Although it takes years to master this devastating submission, we decided to teach it to you now so that, if nothing else, you will be able to recognize it when it is used against you. In this lesson, you will learn two ways to finish the Standard Heel Hook, and once you understand the mechanics you will be ready to learn the critical counters to that will keep you safe for years to come.

Lesson 49: Primary Counter (Ch6.4: Heel Hooks) Lesson Price: $18.00
This is the primary escape and the foundation for all heel hook escapes. This must be perfected to defend advanced heel hook set ups.

Chapter 7: Standing Full Chapter Price: $132.00

Chapter 7 of the Blue Belt Stripe 1 Course features 11 techniques that will help you and your students become better at Front and Rear Attack Defenses, Weapon Defenses as well as Clinch/Takedown strategies. It is essential that you complete the lessons in the prescribed sequence or else you will have difficulty executing the Rapid Mastery Drills and the Focus Sparring Exercises featured at the end of each lesson. Once you complete all eleven lessons, it is highly recommended that you start over and cycle through them at least two more times before moving on to the next chapter. Lesson 50: Sucker Punch Defense (Ch7.1: Front Attack Defenses) Lesson Price: $18.00
The Sucker Punch is one of the most challenging attacks to defend against simply because it is extremely powerful and it occurs with such little notice from the opponent. In this lesson, we teach you the earliest indicators of the Sucker Punch as well as the most effective counters so that you can stay safe and take control of the situation if you are ever targeted with this very common street attack strategy.

Lesson 51: Standing Headlock Defense (Ch7.1: Front Attack Defenses) Lesson Price: $18.00
Headlocks are the most common form of street aggression from untrained individuals. In the Gracie Combatives program, you learn the standard defense to the standing headlock, but you don’t learn how to defend against a striking opponent in a similar situation. In this lesson, we will teach you the most reliable backup plan for when the standard escape strategy fails as well as how to stay safe when trapped in standing headlock against a striking opponent.

Lesson 52: Rear Choke - Standard (Ch7.2: Rear Attack Defenses) Lesson Price: $18.00
The most challenging street fight attacks to defend against are the ones that happen by surprise. Of all the attacks that someone could target you with, there are none more surprising than those that take place from the rear without notice. In this lesson, we will teach you how to defend in the very likely scenario that someone attempts to sneak up and choke you from behind without warning. The only problem with this technique is that once your reflexes are trained, anyone who attempts to hug you from behind may be in for a very unpleasant surprise!

Lesson 53: Rear Choke - Pullback (Ch7.2: Rear Attack Defenses) Lesson Price: $18.00
The Standard Variation of the Rear Choke Defense is very effective once your reflexes are soundly developed. But, if rather than simply choking you from behind, your attacker wraps your neck and pulls you back before you have a chance to drop into your base, you won’t have the angle or the leverage to lift and throw them. In this lesson, we will show you how to swiftly switch your response when you’ve been pulled off balance so you can gain control of the situation by using your opponent’s backward lean against them.

Lesson 54: Club Defense - Close Range (Ch7.3: Weapon Defenses) Lesson Price: $18.00
Although most street fights take place between two weaponless individuals, in the event that an armed individual attacks you, you need to know what to do. One of the most widely available and most commonly used weapons is a blunt object, such as a stick, club, or bottle. In this lesson, we will teach you the distance, timing, and leverage to nullify the club attack, disarm the assailant, and take control of the situation.

Lesson 55: Knife Defense - Overhand (Ch7.3: Weapon Defenses) Lesson Price: $18.00
According to law enforcement officials, a knife attack, or any edged weapon at that, can cause as much if not more bodily harm than a gunshot. Although your first line of defense should be to avoid contact with the armed assailant if at all possible, if you are attacked by someone with a knife and cannot escape, it is vital that you have a sound plan and solid reflexes to minimize the damage done. In this lesson, we will teach you two reliable knife defense techniques that will help keep you safe against someone who is determined to end your life.

Lesson 56: Gun Defense - Front (Ch7.3: Weapon Defenses) Lesson Price: $18.00
If someone’s sole objective is to kill you, you will have a very hard time stopping them. Usually, if someone threatens you with a gun it’s because you have something that they want – such as a car, jewelry, money, etc. – and if this happens, the best thing to do is to cooperate. In the event, however, that someone’s life is at stake, you can use one of several Gracie Jiu-Jitsu techniques to nullify the threat and gain control of the firearm. In this lesson, not only will we teach you the most reliable defense measures for two of the most common gun threats from the front, but we will introduce you to the control principles that are the foundation of all the future gun defense strategies you will learn.

Lesson 57: Over-under Clinch Control (Ch7.4: Clinch/Takedowns) Lesson Price: $18.00
The optimum clinch control position you can establish in a fight is Double Underhook Control. In this lesson, we introduce you to the key principles of the Over-under Clinch position and then we teach you a variety of skills including how to avoid and establish double underhooks on a resistant opponent as well as how to transition into a Guillotine Choke to close the deal.

Lesson 58: "Pisão" Front Kick (Ch7.4: Clinch/Takedowns) Lesson Price: $18.00
If we could add one technique to the Gracie Combatives program, this would be it. Tested and perfected over three generations, the front kick, or “Pisão” in Portuguese, is the key to establishing the distance on a savvy opponent. In this lesson, we teach you, with the help of our brother, Ralek, how to use the Pisão to disrupt your opponent’s fighting stance and create the perfect opportunity to close the distance and get the fight to the ground.

Lesson 59: Takedown Chain (Ch7.4: Clinch/Takedowns) Lesson Price: $18.00
In the Gracie Combatives program, you learned the simplest and most reliable takedown strategies for an untrained, larger, street-fight opponent. In this lesson we teach you a chain of takedown strategies you can use when the basic strategies don’t seem applicable. Although these techniques are slightly more complex than what you are used to, once perfected, they will enable you to surprise even the most seasoned grappler.

Lesson 60: Double Leg Counter (Ch7.4: Clinch/Takedowns) Lesson Price: $18.00
In order to become a takedown specialist, you must also master your takedown defense strategies. In this lesson, we introduce you to the quintessential Double Leg Takedown defense strategy, the sprawl. First you will learn the mechanics of the technique in a solo preparation drill, and then we will teach you how to neutralize the Double Leg Takedown at a variety of intensity levels. Only once you fully understand what it takes to stop the Double Leg Takedown, will you fully understand what must be done to execute it successfully.

Ryron and Rener Gracie
Ryron and Rener Gracie are the eldest grandsons of Grand Master Helio Gracie, the creator of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Their father is Rorion Gracie, one of the world’s foremost experts in self-defense. In 1993, Rorion created the Ultimate Fighting Championship to showcase the supremacy of the family’s self-defense system in a realistic “no holds barred” confrontation against all comers. Rorion’s younger brother, Royce, won 3 of the first 4 UFC tournaments proving that the leverage-based techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu provided the most reliable way to defeat a larger, more athletic opponent. Ryron and Rener were born into this family tradition of testing the art against all challengers.
